Pakistan and UAE agree to enhance cooperation in IT and Telecom fields

Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Aminul Haque held a meeting with the Ambassador of United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Pakistan, Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Al-Zaabi to discuss matters of mutual interests, connectivity and spectrum auction.

During the meeting, both leaders agreed to enhance cooperation in the field of Information Technology (IT) and telecom. The minister told the ambassador that Pakistan is fully committed to increase IT exports and government is implementing steps in this regard.

IT Minister, Syed Aminul Haque further said that Pakistan values its relationship with UAE, and that it is vital for both countries to enhance relations in the fields of IT and Telecom, and also expressed Pakistan’s desire to increase exports with UAE.

 

Syed Amin added, “ICT export remittances surged to US $2.123 billion at growth rate of 47.43 percent during last financial year”.

Meanwhile, Ambassador of UAE, Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Al-Zaabi said that UAE will fully extend cooperation with Pakistan in the field of technology. The ambassador lauded the efforts of IT ministry to uplift the IT and Telecom sector in Pakistan.

Later in the meeting, the ambassador also invited Federal Minister for IT to attend the upcoming, “Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS2021)” to be held in Dubai on November 22-23.

Senior officers of the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication were also present in the meeting.
